Tonglen Meditation – Compassion for others and Self-compassion
Tonglen comes from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Tonglen has been translated as receiving and giving. I was introduced to this meditation by Dale Borglum whose Living/Dying Project is a profound influence for good in the world. https://www.livingdying.org/.
I have made my own version of this practice based on what I learned from Dale and from other sources, including writings by Pema Chodron. This tonglen practice enhances both compassion for others and self-compassion. This version may differ from traditional ones; I take responsibility for those changes.
The audio runs for six and a half minutes. There are chime markers to indicate where you might want to pause the recording, leaving yourself more time to practice the just-described part of the meditation.
